Hi, I'm Karen -Breast cancer survivor, wife, mum of 2 great boys, daughter, sister and friend!

In the midst of life's unexpected twists and turns, my own journey took an unforeseen detour when, at the age of 43, I received the life-altering diagnosis of Breast Cancer in 2021. Cancer has undoubtedly changed the course of my life, leaving an indelible mark on my perspective and priorities. It was during this challenging time that I discovered solace and comfort in a simple pleasure: a perfect cup of tea. The act of brewing and savoring tea became a source of tranquility, offering a brief respite from the turbulence of my cancer journey. This profound experience ignited a desire within me to help others find their own moments of peace and serenity, one cup of tea at a time. Through sharing my knowledge and passion for tea, I aspire to create a sanctuary where individuals can find solace and a renewed sense of calm amidst life's storms.

As a Registered Nurse, my deep-rooted passion for health and well-being has naturally led me to explore the extensive health benefits of tea. I have always loved a “cuppa” but my year off work having cancer treatment really increased my knowledge and appreciation for good quality loose leaf tea and the positive effects this can have on your body and mind. Throughout my exploration of the fascinating world of tea, I have uncovered a wealth of knowledge about its remarkable positive effects on our well-being. One of the most captivating aspects of tea is its ability to boost the immune system, providing a natural defense against illnesses and promoting overall health. Additionally, the anti-inflammatory properties of tea have been widely acknowledged, offering potential relief for various inflammatory conditions in the body. The abundance of antioxidants found in tea is truly astounding, working tirelessly to combat harmful free radicals and support cellular health. Finally, one of the most cherished benefits of tea is its ability to alleviate stress and promote relaxation, creating a harmonious balance between mind and body. As I continue to delve deeper into the world of tea, I am inspired by its multitude of positive effects, and I am eager to share this knowledge with others to help them experience the transformative power of this ancient beverage.

In the most unexpected of circumstances, a serendipitous connection blossomed through an online cancer group with my new American friend, Dru. Little did I know that our friendship would ignite a remarkable journey of discovery. Dru gifted me a truly remarkable book, 'Cancer Hates Tea,' which quickly became my cherished companion. I devoured its pages, immersing myself in the knowledge and inspiration it contained. Today, that book holds a place of honor on my bedside stand, a constant reminder of the transformative power of loose leaf tea. Encouraged by my loving husband, Jason, I embarked on a remarkable exploration of all things tea, fueled by an unwavering passion and the desire to share the profound benefits of loose leaf tea with the world. This journey has led me to the creation of an online tea store, where I hope to bring the joy, comfort, and health-enhancing properties of loose leaf tea to others who are seeking their own moments of solace and healing.

Wow, the highs and lows of loose leaf tea - what a huge learning curve that has been. From designing packaging (thanks Noah), pricing packaging, sampling teas from multiple regions (a definite hardship for Jase and I- haha), setting up my website (pretty proud I've done this all myself), buying stock, packing the tea, sealing the packets, investigating postage options, tackling delays with customs and planning marketing (with Connors advice)- whew so many things to plan and sort - and I'm loving it!

To me, a cup of loose leaf tea is like a cup of sunshine. That feeling I get immediately when I hold that warm cup in my hands and inhale the aroma, I am transported to another place, away from the hardships of the day, and engulfed in a welcoming embrace. It takes away your stresses and is enjoyed best with company. In the heart of our home, the love for tea runs deep, shared by my beloved husband, Jason, and our two wonderful sons, Connor and Noah

I start and end each day with a cup of loose leaf tea - it both wakes me and sets me up for a great day, as well as soothes me and readies me for sleep. When I feel unwell I always think a good cup of tea makes me feel better. What could be better than a cup of tea and vegemite on toast when you feel unwell!

I love the process of getting out my favourite teapot, adding my loose leaves, pouring in the water and then waiting…waiting…waiting for the perfect steep!

I believe once you have a cup of loose leaf tea you will never want to go back to a store bought tea bag. The taste, aroma and entire experience is different, and more enjoyable, with loose leaf tea.

As I reflect on this journey, I am filled with gratitude for the unexpected lessons that cancer has taught me. It has awakened a newfound drive and passion within me, pushing me to step outside of my comfort zone and pursue this little dream that has taken root in my heart. Now, as I embark on this exciting endeavor, I eagerly await the unfolding of this new chapter. With hope and determination, I embrace the unknown, knowing that if it weren't for the challenges I faced, I wouldn't have discovered the strength and resilience needed to transform my aspirations into a tangible reality. Here's to the future, where possibilities abound, and dreams have the power to bloom against all odds.

I hope that my selection of loose leaf teas brings joy and happiness into your life - Steep, Sip, Enjoy!!
